Zinc and Cladding - Case Study

PEMBROKE ROW

Initial Enquiry:
In 2005 Sealbuild were invited to quote for a Zinc roofing and wall cladding project in Dublin city centre. Since Sealbuild employ highly skilled coppersmiths, lead-workers and metal-workers, this provided us with the opportunity to begin working with Zinc, a visually striking and natural material. The contract was won based on the principles and our knowledge of working with copper and lead as many of the zinc details were quite similar.

Requirement:
Detailed research and overseas training for our employees was required to further enhance the Zinc expertise. The Zinc that was proposed to install on the building was called NedZink Nova from Holland. AutoCAD drawing details together with samples of the material and actual hand-crafted Zinc details were also provided for the architect, all in advance of the project commencement.

Positive Outcome:
The duration of the project lasted six months. It consisted of Zinc cladding to four floors and one roof. There were many obstacles and complex details that needed to be rectified once the job commenced, but all resulted in a successful outcome for the client and the provider. Since then Sealbuid have completed numerous Zinc projects throughout Leinster.
